Mevlana Jalaluddin-i Rumi
-Rumi (1207 – 17 December 1273), was an anatolian mystic, a poet and a philosopher.
-He is most commonly called Rumi in English and Mevlana in Turkish.
-On 17th December, the night Rumi passed away, called Seb-i Arus by him that means wedding night. Seb-i Arus is celebrating as the night of Mevlana’s reunion with his Beloved, with the Divine every year.
-The “Masnavi” is Rumi’s greatest poetic work, composed during the last years of his life.
-He is accepted worldwide as an intellectual with his point of view to the people and life. UNESCO, due to the 800th anniversary of Mevlana’s birth, declared the year 2007 as Mevlana and Tolerance year.
